About My Etchings
I enjoy transcribing my illustration work to etching plate.The plates chance marks and aquatint creates atmosphere and romance Titles help ,as i am able to add poetry and focus to the emotion I portray there.I have lectured in print for 17 years,and enjoy sharing the qualities of these crafted feelings.Humour and play are not inhibited but grow in this medium that is sensitive to intentional marks ,but enhanced by subtle wiping ,foul-biting(the acid find marks unintended, but delightful drawn out,as gifts of chance).The pleasure is the same as the antiquing of a corroded old shop sign or petrol pump.The difference is i can deliberatly exploit the nostalgic feeling.Another analogy is like playing music on a violin-timbre that seduces.No wonder the 'come up and see my etchings' came into being,
